MUSICAL LINEUP - 2024

CORY MORROW

Happiness has always come naturally to Cory Morrow. With his rollicking, soulful, feel-good Texas country, he has made thousands jump on tabletops, shimmy, scream, and suspend worries for almost two decades, like a honky-tonk pied piper––and he shows no signs of stopping. But these days, Morrow is also devoted to something more.

Morrow sings hard, proving his smooth, fiery drawl has only gotten better with age. The music revels in a life full of love and purpose, drawing on gritty rock, thumping gospel, and Morrow’s signature juke-joint country. Many of the songs address faith and relationships, both human and holy, with urgency, gratitude, and wonder. “I think there has always been a thread of spirituality in everything I’ve done––I’ve always been searching for something more,” he says. “But in the last five or six years, I’ve started to actually find it. And in the last three or four years, I’ve begun to come into really deep contact with it––to walk in it.”

RED

“Red – A Taylor Swift Tribute Band” is a jaw dropping, faithful recreation of a live Taylor Swift concert. RED is fronted by Lauren Corzine, an amazingly talented and stunningly beautiful young vocalist and performer. Throughout her career as a singer/songwriter, Lauren was told that she looks and sounds just like Taylor Swift. Lauren decided to embrace her striking resemblance to the pop icon and founded RED. The result has been explosive. Taylor Swift fans flock to RED shows to see an authentic recreation of a live Taylor Swift show. Lauren’s on stage appearance and show leaves “Swifties” feeling like they are watching Taylor Swift herself live in concert! In fact, the LA Times recently took notice of Lauren Corzine’s incredible likeness. In 2021, LA Times writer Randall Roberts interviewed Lauren Corzine for a story that centered on Lauren’s love and commitment to the “Swiftie” community. Lauren may be a small town girl from McAllen, Texas, but she and RED are catching the eyes and ears of the world.

RED is a four piece national touring act complete with backup dancers. At a RED show, fans are treated to an epic journey through Taylor Swift’s entire discography. The crowd sings along as RED performs songs ranging from Taylor’s self-titled debut album Taylor Swift all the way through her most recent release Evermore. Lauren Corzine has brilliantly internalized Taylor Swift’s onstage mannerisms and style, and is a ringer for the superstar.

THE LAB

The Lakewood Area Band (The LAB) is an east Dallas cover band formed in 2011. The six members are all long-time East Dallas residents, and have enjoyed playing all the local events and venues in the area.  The LAB plays an eclectic and fun mix of current hits, eighties dance, hard rock, alternative and even a little country music.

DREW COOPER

Anyone who has witnessed a performance from Drew Cooper can testify to that sentiment, to experiencing a stirring of the soul kind of sensation as the music washes over.  The husky, soul soaked baritone of his voice is no doubt the very foundation his entire sound is built on.  It’s a well-worn timbre that in one moment haunts you with the Teddy Pendergrass-esque stylings of old Motown, and the next moment you’re  bobbing your head up and down in that involuntary way that only pure rock n roll can invoke. That rock spice is always going to be part of the meal with Cooper having grown up in the Midwest where classic rock dictated pretty music everything, but you are also going to taste a hint of country and, sometimes, the gospel influence of his youth.  It’s hard to know what to call this hodge-podge stew of savory sounds, but Cooper serves it up this way. “Americana is the easiest way to explain it, but that’s a blanket statement for those that have their own sound.  Am I rock?  No.  Am I country?  No.  I just sing it and play it how I feel it.”

RUN FOR COVER

Run for Cover is the student band from Lake Highlands School of Music (LHSM), where owner Zach Galindo, a graduate of Lake Highlands High School, says the chance to perform for live audiences is what his students work for all year. “Music is the best motivator, and a taste of the stage is everything. When you’re on stage with people watching, nothing can match the rush you get. This is the pinnacle of what we want to create – real stages, real sound equipment, real audiences. That’s the thing that cannot be replicated.”

Run for Cover was created in 2018 and has graced stages such as the Dallas Arboretum Amphitheater, the Wine Therapist, Oak Highlands Brewery, Deep Ellum Art Co, and Vector Brewing Company. They also are available for local private events like auctions and parties. The unique outfit is led by superb local musician Joe James.
